Terms and Condition for the purchasing of online tickets for Ethels Cinema Akaroa.
The Exhibitor is Ethels Cinema Ltd, trading as Ethels Cinema Akaroa, and referred to as ‘Ethels’ in these terms and conditions.
Ethels accepts Visa and MasterCard online payments.
The purchasing of products and services may be subject to booking, credit card and other fees. All tickets purchased through this website will be subject to a booking fee per standard ticket booked unless otherwise specified. Ethels reserves the right to vary the amount of this booking fee from time to time, as specified in the ticket purchasing process.
Times and Session Details
Times and session details in relation to tickets purchased thought this website are subject to change without notice.
Where allocated seating applies to a session you have the choice of selecting your own seat on the website. Otherwise seat allocation for tickets purchased via this website is on a “best available” basis and a seat will be allocated automatically.
Amount of Tickets per Customer or "Ticket Limits"
When purchasing tickets on this website you are limited to 5 tickets for each online purchase session. You may purchase further tickets for the same session by starting another online purchase session.
Please check the censor warning before buying the tickets. Children below the age of 18 will not be allowed entry for an R18 rated movie. Please also check for any additional ratings/entry restrictions that may be applicable for events/movies from time to time.
Where tickets requiring identification are purchased, suitable identification must be presented upon collection of the tickets. Photo ID is required as proof of age for R16 and R18 rated films. Failure to present suitable identification will result in the applicable tickets being forfeited and tickets to alternative suitable shows offered in their place.
Respect Other Guests In The Cinema
Please refrain from talking, disturbing others or putting your feet on seats. Also, switch off your mobile phone or keep it on silent while in the cinema.
This premise may be photographed, filmed and recorded for promotional purposes and the resulting materials will be owned by Ethels.
For the safety and security of guests and staff, please note recorded video surveillance and silent alarms may be in use.
No Outside Food And Drinks
Please note, no food or beverages sourced from outside Ethels are allowed in the cinema.
Ethels Reserve The Right To…
Refuse guests’ entry to the premises.
Request guests leave the premises without a refund, should they breach any of these conditions of entry.
Inspect any bag at any time on the premises. No alcohol, bottles, cans, aerosols, glass, outside food or beverages, laser pointers, large bags, personal stereos, electronic equipment, rollerblades, bicycles, scooters or skateboards are permitted, unless otherwise advised.
If you do not receive a confirmation number (in the form of a confirmation page or email) after submitting payment information, or if you experience an error message or service interruption after submitting payment information, it is your responsibility to confirm the Booking. Only you may be aware of any problem that has occurred during the purchase process. Ethels will not be responsible for losses (monetary or otherwise) if you assume that an order was not placed because you failed to receive confirmation.
Your Booking confirmation will be sent via an email to the email address that you entered on the Booking Confirmation page. This confirmation needs to be brought with you as a print or electronic copy in order to verify your seat reservation and shown to an Ethels staff member if requested. Alternatively, you may provide the credit card used to purchase the tickets for picking up the tickets at the Cinema/Venue.
Refunds and Exchanges
Tickets purchased via this website are sold for a specific session only and are sold on a strict no-refund no-exchange and no-transfer basis unless required by law. If a screening session is cancelled or interrupted and not screened in its entirety for whatever reason, then the holder of a purchased ticket will be offered a ticket for an alternative screening or a full refund including any fees.
When you're at the theatre, a ticket may be refunded up to 30 minutes after the feature film has started. Please request to speak with a member of the team and they would be happy to assist you.
GST and local taxes
Prices on this website include GST.
Pricing and Other Errors
If the amount you pay for a ticket is incorrect (regardless of whether because of an error in a price posted on this website or otherwise communicated to you), or you are able to order a ticket before its scheduled on-sale or pre-sale date or you are able to order a ticket that was not supposed to have been released for sale, then Ethels reverses the right to cancel that ticket (or the order for that ticket) and refund to you the amount that you paid. This will apply regardless of human error or a transactional malfunction of this website.
Occasionally, events are cancelled or postponed by Ethels. Should this occur, Ethels will attempt to contact you and refund the amount as per the policy of Ethels. Ethels may, at its discretion, refuse to sell tickets to you or withdraw any tickets from sale via this website.
If you purchased your tickets online and you are unable to make it to your show, contact our team by pressing the “Contact Us” button below. Please have your Booking ID ready.
Please note, in some cases, refunds may not be possible.
If you are holding tickets for an event or film that has been cancelled or rescheduled due to current COVID-19 circumstances, we would be happy to offer you an exchange or refund.
By entering any promotion or competition you are bound by and agree to comply with the competition terms and conditions of that competition.
Modification of terms
Ethels reserves the right to change these terms and conditions or modify the website from time to time. The user shall be responsible for regularly reviewing these terms and conditions.
Ticket purchase and billing information
When purchasing tickets through this website you must provide personal details, including credit card billing information. Your credit card details are used for real-time billing of ticket purchases and are not retained on our server. To facilitate your ticket purchase your billing information is shared with our banking gateway partner: Windcave. Electronic email addresses
We will record your email address if you transmit it to us electronically. Your email address will only be used for the purpose for which you provide it and will not be added to a mailing list unless you request that this be done. We will not disclose your email address without your consent.
These terms and conditions shall be construed in accordance with, and shall be governed by, the laws of New Zealand.
